Discount retailer Aldi to open store in Lindenhurst, New York

RBR Staff Writer Published 06 April 2012

Germany-based discount supermarket chain Aldi plans to open a new location in Lindenhurst, Suffolk County, New York in 2013.

Aldi vice president for South Windsor division Bruce Persohn told Newsday that the firm will soon begin development of a Lindenhurst store with plans of an opening date in early 2013.

The retail chain currently has stores in Bay Shore and Lake Grove. The new grocery store will be slightly different than the numerous other supermarket chains in the area.

Aldi stores carry an assortment of about 1,400 grocery items sold under its own brands with products priced upwards of 50% less than comparable items found elsewhere.

"We work with many leading food suppliers in the United States to provide us products we sell under our exclusive brands," Persohn told the Patch.
