Save-A-Lot to unveil store in Birmingham, Alabama

Save-A-Lot, a US-based discount grocery chain and a subsidiary of SuperValu, is all set to open a new retail outlet in Birmingham, Alabama on 16 February 2012.

The new store, located at 1127 Huffman Drive, is the 30th Save-A-Lot store in the state. The shop will create approximately 660 new jobs.

Save-A-Lot stores carry a selected assortment of 1,200 to 1,500 everyday grocery essentials, including farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, dairy products, bakery goods, shelf-ready and frozen foods, among others.

The company stores average about 15,000ft² and feature brands such as Save-A-Lot Today, Coburn Farms and Tipton Grove. The stores offer products at prices typically up to 40% less than traditional grocery stores.

Save-A-Lot operates more than 1,300 stores in 39 states from Maine to California.
